Tony Chapman

Tony Chapman established the company in September 2002, after a background in property consultancy and valuation throughout Otago and Southland.

Prime motivation in establishing the company was the desire to provide a fully independent and personal consultancy service.

Experience

Tony has a wide range of valuation and property consultancy experience including commercial, tourism, ground leases and specialised property.

He has acted for the Dunedin City Council and has experience in Arbitration, in Tenancy and in Valuation Tribunal Court work.

Tony has provided valuation advice and has developed methodology for various local authority assets. This has included establishing models for the assessment of lessee and lessor interests in perpetually renewable ground leases.

Employment History

Originally having a trustee company background, Tony moved into the property sector over twenty five years ago initially in property management, mortgage management and valuation.

Tony has worked in Dunedin valuation companies since 1989. During this time he has completed numerous going concern valuations for motels, rest homes, and hotels, and currently specialises in these and commercial property generally.

Tony has experience with major national client portfolios, and with smaller private clients throughout the Otago and Southland region.

Garry Paterson

Garry Paterson joined the company in February 2008 having a background of over 30 years in property valuation and consultancy service.

Experience

Garry has been involved in the valuation profession since 1978 and generally in the Dunedin area since 1986. He was registered as a valuer in March 1983.

In recent years Garry has been involved predominantly in the Commercial (including elderly care and health facilities) and Industrial sectors providing valuation services in market valuation, rental assessments, insurance valuations, asset valuations for financial reporting purposes, arbitration and umpiring, and with an overview of the residential property market.

Employment History

With a background starting with the then Government Valuation Department in 1978 based in Christchurch and Alexandra, Garry has been involved in property valuation in Dunedin and Central Otago since 1982. Garry has also completed commercial valuation assignments in Invercargill and the Southland District.

Garry has been employed by both national valuation companies and local practices in that time prior to taking part ownership in Chapman Consultancy in April 2008.

Joseph M Chapman

Graduate Valuer  B.Com (VPM)

Joe joined as a permanent staff member in December 2008. He has completed a Bachelor of Commerce majoring in valuation and property management at Lincoln University and is currently assisting in a diverse range of valuation work which includes residential, industrial and commercial property, while working towards registration.

Kirstin Burdett

Property Manager

Kirstin worked as a contractor to the company from 2002 and accepted the position of Property Manager in 2007.

Her friendly but firm approach is respected by tenants and lessees, as well as providing a practical and methodical approach for our management clients.
